Supporting designers who are reshaping industries.
Look around you. Everything is designed. From the clothes you are wearing, to the phone in your pocket and the building you are in.
The products we design and make shape society. Through the Secrid Impact Fund, we support designers who are reimagining how products are designed and made, creating lasting positive change within their industries.
We share the lessons we’ve learnt with our community of designers.
Our mission
Thirty years ago, Secrid’sfounders asked a simple question: can we improve the wallet? But our ambition extended beyond creating a new product category. We developed a different way of designing with a holistic design philosophy, producing, and collaborating, with a focus on longevity, local production, social inclusion, and strong partnerships throughout the value chain.
This taught us that design can be a powerful driver of systemic change. It can influence not only what we make, but also how industries operate and how value is created. Meaningful change starts with a new idea, but it grows through experimentation, collaboration, and persistence.
Design for impact
Designing means taking responsibility: for usability, beauty, and the consequences for people and the environment.
Through the Secrid Impact Fund, we support designers who are applying that same mindset. Helping them develop ideas that have the potential to create positive impact across industries and systems.
Prevenzione

Secrid talent podium
Since 2022, The Secrid Talent Podium spotlights 7 talented designers during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven. In addition to a place on the podium, each designer receives mentoring, access to a professional network, communication opportunities and a cash prize of €7.777 - a reference to our 7 holistic design principles.
Design Challenge
Secrid is a global partner of the design challenges organized by What Design Can Do. This competition empowers the global creative community to solve the significant challenges of our time. The winning designers receive access to a professional acceleration program, benefit from valuable exposure through all partner channels, and receive a cash prize.
Back to Nature Foundation x Super Local
In 2023, we started a research project with Luc van Hoeckel to design a product with local materials and people, that can generate funds for Back to Nature Foundation. This non-profit organization was founded by Manon van Olde Barneveld and Sankale Ole Ntutu, to protect and preserve the Masai Mara ecosystem and Maasai culture in Kenya.
Sheltersuit Foundation
Sheltersuit Foundation makes and distributes water-proof Sheltersuits and Shelterbags to help keep homeless people warm and comfortable. In 2024, we have developed a limited-edition collection to support production and distribution. For every wallet sold, Secrid donated €10.
INSPIRE A NEW GENERATION OF DESIGNERS
At Secrid, we believe in empowering the next generation of designers. That’s why we often open our doors to (future) designers—offering them a behind-the-scenes look at how we combine design, innovation, and responsible production. Through our holistic design principles, we support initiatives that help young talent grow, connect, and develop ideas that shape a better future. Find more info here.
Redesigning the Future of Materials
We learn about new materials in various ways. One way being through the Secrid Impact Fund: we supported Celium™ by Polybion, one of the winners of the What Design Can Do challenge in 2024. Celium™ is a vegan and organic material produced by bacteria fed with agro-industrial fruit waste. Together with Polybion we are continuously testing the materials and working to bring this material up to industry standards. Read about it in this article.
