Our
Heartquarters

Growth is only good if the community benefits.

In 2009, three people started the Secrid adventure: Marianne, René and Paul. Thirteen years later, our creative family consists of more than 100 colleagues and we keep growing steadily.

Being committed to social responsibility and sustainability, our wallets are still assembled in social enterprises, even though we now produce millions of them. We are fully aware that ideals alone are not enough, change only happens through the daily choices we make. Growth is only valuable to us if the community benefits too.

Secrid's outlook on social responsibility and sustainability was the leading principle for building the company; to favour personal relations, personal growth and inclusivity. This was in 2018 the starting point for the design of our new office. A renovated 2000m2 warehouse that dates from 1965. The internal layout, which does not have management offices or separate departments but does feature a large espresso bar where everybody enters the office, and a workshop where designers and specialists craft prototypes.

While designing, 25% of the space had not been addressed, leaving space for organic growth. The brand's core is family and Secrids office had to reflect just that. With everyone in one large studio, collaboration plays a central role. In many positions at the company – from sales, to supply chain management – there are people with a background as designers. People working at Secrid are creative and open plan offices are often considered a drag, so to counter that, we wanted to create a space where the creative spirit flourishes.

Many of the buildings features now serve as a design manifest.

Designed by an in-house design team, this project served as a means to create a physical identity. The design is based on Feng Shui principles, something which people feel when they enter the building. Many of the building's features now serve as a design manifest. The holistic design approach is also translated into many aspects of our work environment: a vegetarian lunch that is enjoyed by the staff and even the occasional passerby.

During the Milan Design Week in 1997, René and Marianne visited a renovated industrial property and dreamed of working in a place like that one day. It feels very  special that precisely this dream has become a reality in 2018, more than 20 years later.
